The Sequel storyline is set!

I want to tell you where most of this storyline to the sequel will take place, but I want that to be a secret. I will tell you this, when you do read Birthright, read carefully and between the lines, and pay close attention to what Kane says to Candra at all times. His background is in one of his lines. So, even though you may want to read fast to see what will happen, next, I'm telling you...don't. In the sequel it'll be all about her bloodline, history, some of it good, but most of it not so good and it'll take her and Kane to far away places. A lot more action, where she'll meet yet more of her family. Does this mean a happy reunion, I don't think so. Remember, she is with Kane now, so what do you think? The surprises she came upon when she came back home was nothing compared to what she is up against now, but her family, the Rosewood Coven, know of her strength so they have prepared themselves for that as well. So you see, the next book will be fi

Candra's Past

When I first started to write Birthright, I didn't research a background for my main character, I just had an idea as to what it might have been, and as I wrote it just came to me. So, now that its done, I still don't have a set background for her or her family, only that they are obsessed with her and now I have to figure out why...one would think I should have thought of this long time ago no? But I'm a type A personality and I just dive in without thinking full out what I'm doing and hope that things will turn out for the best and they usually do! But now that I'm doing a sequel, I REALLY need to know her background as well as her families. So, after much dilly dallying this morning, I finally went, headache and all. I found one entry, a Vampire Encyclopedia. The book is thick, I'm not talking a few inches thick, like as thick as Harry Potter's last book thick. I felt defeated, but I sat down at the table, pen and paper ready to go and I page thro

The Research

As I wait for my book to come out, I busy myself with the thought of yet another book, the sequel. I have the title, "The Legacy" and the characters of course, Candra Rosewood and Kane Smith, but aside from all that, I have nothing as of yet. I know that she has found out about her background and I can't say what it is because it'll be a spoiler to Birthright and you have to read it to find out, but Candra's problem is not so much herself now, as she thought, it is her family and why are they so obsessed with her. I am giving this week, my Spring Break, to do much research into her family, and I have found some interesting things. Looking into Utica's history and seeing if there is anything of interest that I could possibly use, seeing how my story does take place there. I want it to be one of intrigue, and power. Such deliciousness that the readers will be hungry for more as it were (laughs at such playful words). So keep coming back, I'll be

What vampire do you like?

This was my dilemma. I've read and viewed many vampires, some not really scary, some scared the pants off me, while others left me drooling and in which I wished I was the victim he held. When it came to writing my book, I had in mind what kind of vampire I wanted, certainly not like Edward Cullen, the "Weenie" as I often refer to him as, but someone with more evilness, more desire, someone who wouldn't be pushed around and someone who took what he wanted regardless of what the circumstances were, someone like Damien from "The Vampire Diaries", but with a little more mystery about him. I also had to contend that when I wrote this book, it was for an audience of Young adult, so no matter how intensely involved I got with my vampire when I wrote, I had to "CONTROL" myself and my muse to cool it when it came to scenes where he and Candra were involved...needless to say...that didn't happen...thank God my publisher had her good senses about her

Human Servant: Candra's Markings

In my novel, "Birthright" Candra is chosen by Kane to become his human servant. In becoming one, she become the ears, eyes, hands and voice of their master vampire. Candra finding out why she feels such a connection to Kane, abhors the idea, but yet, finds it exciting, and at times sensual. There are four markings and with each one, the connection between the vampire and his human become stronger. First Mark - The vampire shares his/her life-force with a human. There are no visible signs of this being done, and can be unnoticed by the human in question. The human may also feel like they have 'fallen' into the vampires eyes. Though this mark is generally done in person, it is not necessary for the vampire to be physically present. Second Mark - The human sees two spots of flame the shade of the vampire's eyes coming towards them, until they over lap their eyes. The human sees the world in the shade of the flames for a moment. In that moment, anyone looking

The Arrival is Almost Here!

Could I say that I have been waiting for this day to happen? YES! I can truly say, without a doubt, that being a writer is no easy task, would I do it again? "IN A HEART BEAT!" No pun intended. At this very moment, dressed in my blood red robe, sicker than a dog, with strep throat, I sent my manuscript back to my publisher. I had just finished going over it for the second time, making sure that the changes of day were following correctly and that the season (Fall going into winter) were going as planned, that needed some tweaking, but nothing drastic needed changing and that my friends is why you take your time and go through it, over and over and over again. You miss so much, tiny things. The cover I re-did. My husband and I trekked 35 miles outside Joliet, to...now I don't even remember where we went, to find Candra's home. I knew what I wanted, a brick, stately home, out in the middle of nowhere. I looked in Utica, where my story took place, but found

Writing the perfect male vampire

What makes a "perfect"male vampire? Some would say his looks, others would say his command or his eyes, but I say its how he lures you in without you even knowing it and then its too late. Oh, he has the charm, the looks, the body that stops you dead in your tracks and makes you drool like a fool, but,its that uncontrollability ,that one weakness in you that he finds most appealing and "latches" on to it so tight that no matter what you do to ignore it, all his looks, his fire that ignites the flame inside you,the iciness of his touch and smooth way he has that melts you into his hands...ah, you are his muse to be played with and play he will. That my friends is my kind of vampire and Kane Smith is exactly that. Oh, he knows what he wants, Candra. She is his match, maybe more so, who knows. She has fire in her belly and he loves a challenge. Usually, he's not one to let the female walk over him and have her way, but with Candra, knowing her and he does

Birthrights start

When writing Birthright, it had a different name to begin with. It originally was going to be called "Forever" and I had a cover designed for it, all set to go...just no story yet, should be the other way around don't you think? My characters had different names as well. Candra Rosewood, was "Katherine Rosewood" in the older version, as "Victor Woods" our Kane Smith, was the other main male character. The story I had in mind was something different, with stronger characters and with a mystery behind one of them, a family legacy so to speak. I wanted Candra to be special, so special that not even she knew how special she truly was until unexplainable things and feelings started to happen, things she had no control over and at times didn't want control. I've read all the Twilight Books and found them very well written, but the thing I didn't like about them was that they weren,t strong. The characters were indecisive when it came to an

Candra's Mad scene

She's been marked at least twice now, two more and she's totally his, but with their last meeting having been weeks, months gone, the need for him burns steadily and shes sinks into a depression that seems to engulf her very soul. Her neighbor, Mr. Bennet goes to her and tries to get her to leave her room and come downstairs, to which she eventually decides to do, but then... “I suppose, if that will make you happy.” I got up and sauntered out of the room and down the hallway. As I walked past the bathroom, I planted myself and slowly turned my focus to the opened doorway. Muscles rigid, I started to tremble. Mr. Bennet stopped when he found himself walking alone. He turned to see where I had gone and found me, convulsing on the floor outside the bathroom. “Candra are you alright? What’s wrong?” He hurried back. “I-I can’t… I can’t do this anymore. He’s not here and yet I feel him. It’s as though he lives inside me, twisting my guts with such pain that I want to yanke
