TRESTLE PRESS USING COPYRIGHTED ARTWORK FOR THEIR COVERS

I am sooooo glad I got out of their contract. I was getting bad vibes from the get-go they are a shady publisher to work for and if you know any writer who deals with them or wishes to deal with them tell them NO and give them this link.

  2. It's all spilled milk...I cleaned it up right away! LOL I'm just sorry for the unsuspecting authors who are still with them and don't know!

  3. All the writers that are still with Trestle- and there aren't many, over 40 quit in the first week of February- know about this situation but are sticking with Trestle, for whatever weird reason.

  4. Gio to me is a sneak, will go to great lengths to avoid questions that make him answer truthfully. The man avoided my questions to the point where I treated him like a 4th grader. In that I wanted yes or no answers to my questions. Then, and only then did I get what I asked and he retorted that he doesn't answer yes or no questions. The man is sly and I, nor anyone else should trust him. Those who stay with him are blind.

  5. Have you seen this interview that Elaine didn't publish at the time? http://ashedit.wordpress.com/2012/02/12/trestle-press-alleged-stealing-art-for-e-book-covers/#comments

    1. I read that and thought, "yup that's Gio for ya." Elaine wasn't asking anything cyptic or something shouldn't have been asked. The guy is hiding things that normally are brought out publically. I mean, that's how you get your authors!

  6. Someone had sent my husband a link to Trestle Press and suggetsted he enter their anthology. He asked me about them and after I checked them out, I told him they sounded fishy. They had something on their website that said to send them whatever you had, whether it was full of errors or not, that you never know, you could be the next Steven King, Lee Childs, etc etc. That set off alarms, but then they didn't list how much they were paying or a word count and when I asked them how much they paid, they said to send them an email with any questions. If they can't list publicly, for everyone to see what they pay, then I have to wonder. Jeff will be glad to know he dodged a bullet.

    1. Authors get 70% he receives 30%. The thing he is getting paid for the editing, marketing and promotional side and the book cover. I want to laugh right now. The man does NOTHING! He is using copyrighted images, all the authors are doing ALL the promoting and marketing and if he does the editing, it's not all that good, he should receive zip because he does not a thing. You are lucky your husband did not sign up with him.

Countess Elizabeth Bathory

In my research I came across Countess Elizabeth Bathory and found this person to be truly a horrific person. Deemed a Vampire in the sense that she drank and bathed in the blood of her victims, but she herself was not a "true" vampire in that she didn't have fangs and couldn't go out in the sunlight, etc. Elizabeth became pregnant as the result of a brief affair with a peasant man in 1574. When her condition became evident, she was sequestereduntil the baby's birth, due to her engagement to Count Ferenc Nadasdy. They were married in May of 1575. Since Nadasdy was a soldier, he was frequently away for long periods of time. This left Bathory with the duties of managing the affairs of the Nadasdy family estate, Castle Sarvar. It was here that Elizabeth's career of evil truly began, with the disciplining of the large household staff, especially the young girls. It was after her husbands death that she started in with her atrocities. One of her servants pulled...

The Stone and Modern Science (Continuation of the Philosopher's Stone)

Though the notion of a simple philosopher's stone of the alchemic sense fell out of scientific conception by at least the 19th century, its metaphors and imagery persisted: man's attempt to discover the essential secret of the universe, redemptively transforming not just lead into gold, but death into life. In 1901, Ernest Rutherford and Frederick Soddy discovered that radioactivity was a sign of fundamental changes within elements, and it was Soddy who quickly made the connection between this and the ancient search for the philosopher's stone (Soddy had studied alchemy extensively as a hobby). At the moment of realization that their radioactive thorium was converting itself into radium, bit by bit, Soddy later recalled that he shouted out: "Rutherford, this is transmutation!" Rutherford snapped back, "For Christ's sake, Soddy, don't call it transmutation. They'll have our heads off as alchemists." However the term stuck, in part because it...
